All of our instructors are volunteers with many years of experience raising, training and delighting in the companionship of their dogs as well as competing with them in conformation, and in trials such as Schutzhund/IPO, obedience, agility, and tracking.

This exciting class seeks to support and prepare students who have an aspiration to try competitive dog sport! We’ve put together a lot of interesting course materials and activities, and I hope everyone enjoys their experience in this class.
 
What is Rally-O? Rally-Obedience is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course, designed by the rally judge, made up of exercise skill stations. Each station has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. This is very fun sport and is intended to promote positive relationships between dogs and owners based on trust and respect. Rally-O encourages participation of ALL dogs purebred or mixed breed.

Our Obedience workshops offer the working dog enthusiast an opportunity to learn the basics while giving you the opportunity to create a strong bond between you and your dog and aim at helping the dog/handler team to discover the world of competitive obedience.

Looking for something new? How about trying our Tracking workshops and teach your dog and yourself the basics of this fun activity!

Want to improve relation between you and the dog, promote mutual understanding and trust, and  get more attentive and engaged partner on the training field? Try our Motivation & Drives Development workshop. You will learn about tribe drives and their role in training. We will look in details into pack drive and it significance in training process.

Our Protection workshop is for dogs that have the intensity, drive, and discipline. This workshop covers skills your dog need for beginning bite work and how owner/handlers can develop those skills. Each team receives instruction in teaching techniques and the psychology behind the technique.

Still not sure what you want to try? K9Force can help with that too, with our Intro to IPO 8 weeks course. This could be an entry point into competitive dog sports or simply a fun activity for you and your dog.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • All dogs must be up to date with both Rabies and DA2PPV (DHPPV). Please bring a signed vaccination certificate with you for your first class. If you require vaccines please call your veterinarian
  • All dogs must be healthy and not contagious (no coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, runny noses, vomiting, or diarrhea)
  • Puppies must be at least 4 months of age and had all their puppy vaccines

All dogs are welcome.  Price is $250.00 per dog, payable before training starts.  Classes will run between 1 and 1.5 hours per session.

In this course, you will learn basic commands with for your dog with clear, simple instruction for experienced competitive dog handlers.  You will learn how to teach your dog to sit, lie down, stay, wait,  come, and heel.  The lessons proceed step by step in teaching your dog basic obedience, with each lesson building on what came before. You will learn essential communication between you and your dog and how to recognize aggression and stress. Group training is also a great socialization source for your dog.

Requirements: Sturdy shoes, no sandals!  Use of cell phones is strongly discouraged during class.  All dogs must be leashed upon entering the training field before they exit your vehicle. All dogs must wear a collar (no harnesses) and you must come with a standard leash (no extendable leashes.)  If you are unsure about your equipment, leashes and training collars can be purchased through K9Force Working Dog Club.  Please bring your dog hungry and ready to learn for all training sessions. This means no feeding your dog in the 12 hours before a session, as your dog will be much more eager to learn on an empty stomach.  This is a group session, so it isn’t the right spot for a dog with major aggression issues.  If your dog does have major aggression issues please contact K9Force for a private consult.  If you are concerned about your dog interacting with other dogs, please notify us before you remove your dog from your vehicle, and an instructor can come assist you in bringing your dog onto the field.

Family Members: Dog owners may share training with a friend or family member. One handler can work the dog one week, and the other handler can work the dog the next week. Or, your can alternate during the class

This class is an introduction to rally obedience. A Rally course will be run at the end of each class, but considerable time will be spent on helping the handler and dog learn to move as a team in performing each station’s requirements with the dog heeling through the course on a loose leash.

Cost: 250$ (Includes course materials/signs) for 8 Classes

You will learn:

-How to find and enter CKC Rally events
-How to enter a trial
-How to walk a Rally course
-What the Novice Rally signs are and how to perform them
-What titles you may obtain and how to obtain them

Prerequisite –Basic Obedience 101 & Engagement Workshop

This workshop covers how to get focus and engagement from your dog and explores some of the core exercises required in the first levels of most obedience sports. Using the four basic motivational tools of tug, ball, food and attention, we explain how to play correctly and usefully. You will also learn when to reward, and use that play to teach foundation obedience. We also introduce the concept of a marker words, which helps handlers communicate better with their dogs, and proper timing of cues, which helps the dogs learn commands faster. This program would be suited to those interested in CKC obedience trialing, Ralley-O, police dog training, and Schutzhund / IPO and BH trialing.

Maximum 10 working spots

The objectives of this workshop are to improve relation between the owner and the dog, promote mutual understanding and trust, and help the handler to get more attentive and engaged partner on the training field. During the lecture part we will describe and identify following tribe drives: prey, possession, play and pack drive as well as food drive and their role in training. We will look in details into pack drive and it significance in training process.

Practical part will include exercise for building and promoting prey and pack drives.

This workshop would be suited to those interested in CKC obedience trialing, Rally-O, police dog training, and Schutzhund / IPO and BH trialing as well as any handlers who wants to improve working relationship with their dog.

Maximum 10 working spots

This workshop covers what skills a handler needs to teach their dog foundation footstep tracking. Included are article indication, how to lay tracks to help train the dog, and how to reinforce confident nose work by the dog. We also briefly discuss the different types of tracking and what exactly your dog is detecting when scenting. This program would be suited to those interested in CKC or Schutzhund/IPO tracking. Whether sport or just for fun with your companion, this fun and informative workshop is a great place to start the tracking journey!

Working Spot: $100   Spectator: $50

This workshop covers skills puppies’ need for beginning bitework and how owner/handlers can develop those skills. Obedience within protection work, the role of the helper, the role of the handler, and the proper temperament of dogs who can do protection work is discussed. Basic protection skills of gripping, targeting and guarding are covered. This program would be suited to those interested in protection, Schutzhund/IPO, French ring, or police training
